Hey there!
Happy Eid! This year we are all stuck inside (once again—thank you covid). Since we’ve been baking so much lately, we decided that instead of eating all the desserts ourselves, we would send them to our friends! But we went craaaazy with the boxes… watercolor letters, “made with love” stickers, different types of cookies— I guess you could call this our new Eid tradition. SO with that being said—let’s get on to the recipes.
The baking has honestly been nonstop since the beginning of quarantine. My sister had to come back from New York at the beginning of quarantine and since then has taken FULL advantage of the baking while I took the cooking over from my mom. We recently found a love of dried fig and craisins which are elements we incorporated into both the biscottis and blondies. My mom on the other hand is getting back to her turkish roots and decided to make something called Kurabiye which is similar to a fig newton in that it is a dough that is shaped and filled with dried figs. To add an Arabic twist to it, we used date paste, dried apricots, and orange!
Check out the recipes for biscotti and kurabiye! (stay tuned for the rest of the recipes)
